So Day 2 of this challenge was very difficult...it was to find and read the camera manual. First it took me an hour to find the manual. When I did find it, it was only 6 pages long. Then I looked in the box that the camera came in again and saw a CD in there. This was where the manual was. So after uploading it I went through the task of actually reading it...very dull and frustrating. I was given a list of things to figure out on how to change settings and stuff. One was to check the shutter speed. There was no mention in the manual about shutter speed. After reading the review of camera I learned that I can't control that on my camera. It turns out that there are a lot of things I can't control on my camera because it's a point and click.
All of this made me was to go out right away and drop I don't know how much $$$ on a DSLR. Then I looked at my bank account and realized that was not an option at moment. This led to me closing my laptop and pouting. After my mild sulk, I read the review about the camera that I do have and there are a LOT things that my camera does do and it's actually pretty good, although I think my mom bought for me because it was a red camera. And it is a gift so I mean I'm lucky enough to gotten one.
Anyways the next few assignments are about shutter speed and aperture which I have no control over so I though I would post some old pictures I took which I really like. The first is of my husband chilling out during rib fest. This was his post-eating pre-napping position.
This next photo is of my friend during his first Muy Thai fight. I love that everything around him is blurry except for him and the whole effect is really cool, although completely unintentional.
These were both taken on my old point and shoot canon. What camera do you normally use to take photos: Point and shoot, DSLR, or Blackberry/Iphone?

Day 1: Take a Photo
So as I mentioned earlier I am joining a photography group (I came across it through www.meetup.com where you can find a group for any hobby and interest and yes you actually meet these people in the flesh and not over the internet) basically for people like me who have no clue what they are doing but really, really want to take pretty pictures. I also mentioned that we are following something called Project 52. Well Project 52 seems to be a little advanced for people like me who have no knowledge of how their camera works. So, I guess the group leader thought it would be better to start a little more simpler with 31 Days to a Better Photo.
The first assignment on this page was "take a picture" Whew! That's something I can do. I was actually out near where I live today and took a few pictures and fiddled with some on the buttons on the camera (which by the way just a point and shoot type of thing) and these are the photos I came up with:
I personally love taking pictures of the outdoors and places. I find taking photos of people kind of difficult at times but I do love taking pictures of my son.
What inspires you to take a photo? What are some of your favourite places to take pictures?

Welcome to the Little Shutterbug
Welcome! I decided to create this blog mainly because I joined a photography group (which was created through a local mom's group) and wanted a place to post all of my photos and everything I learned.
I am definitely not a photographer. In fact, I barely know anything about taking pictures but I'm on Maternity leave right now and kind of feel like my brain is leaking out of my ear so I figured now would be the best time to learn more about how to use the new camera my mother got me!
The group I'm in is following Project 52 and every week there is a new lesson and "assignment" Here's the website if anyone else is interested http://belovedmuse.com/2011/12/28/project-52-course-curriculum/ . Before we start that, however, the group I am in is going to follow some of the ideas in this website http://my3boybarians.com/31-days-to-a-better-photo/ .
Hopefully you'll get a kick out of some of the photos I shoot and learn something new too.
